About Joshimath.

Joshimath is a hill town located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, and is a well-known religious and tourist destination. It is situated at an altitude of 6150 feet above sea level, in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The town is surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, and is considered one of the four "maths" or monasteries established by the 8th century Hindu saint, Adi Shankara. It is a popular place for pilgrimage and trekking in the Himalayas.

The town is home to the famous temple of Lord Badrinath, one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism known as the "Char Dham." The temple is visited by thousands of devotees every year, particularly during the Char Dham Yatra, a Hindu pilgrimage tour to the four sacred shrines in the region. It is believed that the temple was built by Adi Shankara himself.

Apart from the temple, Joshimath is also known for its beautiful natural surroundings, including the Nanda Devi peak, which is the second highest peak in India. The town is also a popular base for trekking and skiing in the surrounding Himalayan mountain ranges. Some popular trekking routes in the region include the trek to Valley of Flowers, Kuari Pass, Panch Kedar and Auli.
